The Baltimore Ravens traveled into Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers expecting an old fashion cage match. What did the game consist of? 4 quarters of brutal smash mouth football!

What did you expect? It’s Ravens Steelers after all, and this game didn’t let anyone down!

The Steelers would start out hot, scoring on a Byron Leftwich run just: 47 seconds into the Sunday Night showdown. But the Steelers offense officially went COLD and scored only 3 points the rest of the night. 59 minutes and 13 seconds later, it would hurt them. They would fall to 6-4 and let the Ravens(8-2) take a huge lead in the AFC North.

The Ravens deserved this one because of the way that the Defense/Special Teams played.

Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense had a dry night as they only put up about 200 yards of offense; but in the end it wouldn’t matter.

The vaunted Ravens defense would get a spark from return man Jacoby Jones, who returned a punt 63 yards to put the Ravens up 10-7. From this point forward, neither team would go on to score a TD and it would become a battle between Kickers Justin Tucker and Shaun Suisham.

Tucker would seal the deal when he booted a FG half way through the 3rd quarter.

Byron Leftwich came into the game confident and he really didn’t play too bad. But he and the offense couldn’t find that play that would boost them ahead. He would finish the game with the final line: 18-39 201 yards and 1 INT.

He seemed to follow suit with the Steelers injured QB’s as throughout the game he appeared to be in pain on the right side of his body. Coach Mike Tomlin didn’t allude to any injuries when it came to Leftwich, but now it appears he could miss next week’s game @ Cleveland. More injury news will come out later in the week.

Ray Rice was not a factor in the game as he averaged only 2.0 Yards Per Carry. He did however have a few catches out of the backfield.

Player of the game: Jacoby Jones- Jones who notched his 3rd return TD of the year, provided the only TD for the Ravens and gave them the edge.

Looking at next week’s matchups, neither team has an easy task. The Steelers will travel to Ohio to take on the Browns. You know that the Browns will want this game to be able to play a spoiler role. RB Trent Richardson has been hot as of late, and he could help the Browns keep a balanced attack against an injury depleted Steelers D.

Baltimore will fly to the West Coast to take on the Chargers. San Diego fell victim to Peyton Manning and the Broncos as they would lose 30-23 and fall to 4-6.

This could be a game to worry about if you are the Ravens. Everybody knows that Joe Flacco is struggling on the road and if he makes some mistakes, the Chargers Defense WILL capitalize. Look for a heavy dose of Ray Rice.
